SLC Capitol
Kristin and I travelled to Salt Lake City to visit Lucas. While there we made a trip to the capitol building in the evening. I highly recommend visiting the capital building, it is an imposing piece of architecture built from granite. During the day the stone absorbs the heat from the sun, and you can feel that heat radiating as the sun sets. You will notice a marked difference from the cool air over the lawn area to the warmth thrown off of the stone.
This is a perfect place to go, hang out on the lush lawn, and read a book or have a picnic. It is also great for watching the sunset.
The building itself sits on the north end of State Street on Captiol Hill. Its front door faces due south. On the west side of the building sit two regal stone lions, Honor and Patience
This is from the main steps looking west
To the southeast a church steeple stands out, with the Wasatch mountains in the background
The monument below commemorates the Mormons that joined the US military in the war against Mexico.
They let you just hang out on the lawn here and enjoy the scenery. It is a great place to read a book and get some fresh air.
Below is a map of the capitol building. The red dots show (as best I can remember) where the pictures were taken from.
