Tunnel Springs Sunset

After such a successful sunrise hike at Tunnel Springs Park, I invited Kristin to join me for a similar hike at sunset (or maybe I should say late afternoon). We set out for Tunnel Springs Park, and hiked along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. This time, we stayed on the trail and followed it until we got close to the radio towers. We didn’t feel the need to go all the way to the towers, so before reaching them we stopped and hiked up a small hill to enjoy the view. From there we could see the city.

These black-eyed Susan flowers are all over the place in Utah.

From our vantage point we could see the back side of the Capitol Building.

I spent some serious time trying to find our hotel in the city. I finally zeroed in on it. Look near the center of the frame at the white water tower with the gray top and black lettering. Just behind that is our hotel, Homewood Suites. The series of 4 photos below gives you increasingly zoomed out views of it, keeping that water tower near the center.

Mountain biking is pretty big in Salt Lake City. On the way back we saw a bunch of mountain bikers, some kind of club or something.

And finally, here is the water tower as seen from our hotel-room window. Just to the right of it you can see the radio towers on the hill in the background. The dark hill to the left of it was where Kristin and I ended our hike and took most of the pictures.
