Ensign Peak
I woke up early and drove just north of the city to Ensign Peak to watch the sunrise. I hiked the 1 mile trail up to the peak and when I got to the top I was hit by strong winds plowing over the top of the hill, and although during the hike up I enjoyed beautiful weather, once I got to the top a rain shower started. Luckily, the weather cleared after 5 minutes. The peak sits over the north side of the city, behind the state capital building, and offers tremendous views of the city in the valley below, which is surrounded by mountains on all side. Looking out at the city, the sun rises to my left, and the Great Salt Lake sits to my right. It was a beautiful morning, the sky offered some tremendous cloud formations. It was a great morning to take some pictures.
The sun took its time coming up over the mountains
Something’s going on with that cloud
That is Antelope Island out in the Great Salt Lake
